What is the "Greyt Charity Dog Meet"?

Well “Eddie” and “Cat” are our two retired greyhounds that we adopted after they had finished their racing career. They both love adventures, days out and meeting other dogs (especially other greyhounds).
Sadly Eddie passed away in January this year and we received so many messages and emails from people who; despite having never met Eddie, had enjoyed following his adventures online over the years.
This led us to thinking it would be great if we could arrange for “Cat” to meet some of her doggy friends.
In March 2012 we held our first “greyt dog meet”. Fifteen of Cat’s greyhound friends joined us at the local beach for a lovely weekend of walking, sunbathing and talking about our hounds.

So next year we are going a step further and having a bigger version of the greyt dog meet.

There will be (to be added to as more confirmed!)

The following companies have kindly donated products to support the event

Why are you having a greyt charity dog meet?
This event has several objectives. One of course is to raise awareness of what greyt pets greyhounds make, it will also raise much needed funds for the various charities that are in attendance and is set to be a greyt day out for dog owners and the wider community.
The money from the dog show will go to a cause that we at Camping and Exploring with Dogs greytly support! Darcy's Legacy - Research in to canine osteosarcoma in memory of Darcy the Deerhound (pictured below!) Read about Darcy and her legacy HERE  and watch a 8 minute video montage of Darcy HERE

We will also be holding a raffle and taking donations on the day and funds from these will go 100% to the local RNLI based in Teignmouth!

They have 2 boats - The Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat known as The Two Annes (seen below in action) and the smaller xp32 which they use for work on the river Teign! You can find more info on the boats HERE and see details of their latest shouts HERE

How can we help you?
Here's what we need:

2) donations of items for goody bags at the event - samples of food, toys, treats, etc

3) sponsors for A) the fun dog show and B) the dog show classes.   - Thank You for everyone who has sponsored the dog show classes and to Cobbydog our main show sponsor.

4) stall holders (both business and charities) who would like to take part in the event  - We are now fully booked for stalls on the day!

5) MONEY!!!!

6) Lots of help with publicity and spreading the word.

If any one can help with any of these items/points or know of anyone who might be interested please get in contact with me in one of the various ways. (facebook @cat greyhound twitter @eddieandcat on this blog or by emailing eddieandcat@hotmail.com)

Helpful information

Where can we stay if we are travelling down for the event?

Dog Friendly B&Bs and Inns - For those of you who like your home comforts.

Cofton Holiday Park  - for those who have their own travelling accommodation - motorhome, caravan and tents welcome. Also dogs welcome in select holiday homes by arrangement. very short walk or drive to the event.

Park Holidays - Park Holidays have several sites in the local area that are open for hire this weekend. The closest sites would be "Dawlish Sands" and "Golden Sands" 2 dogs allowed per unit.

Cliffden Hotel - The event is being held in the grounds of the Cliffden Hotel which is a very dog friendly hotel in Teignmouth.

Where can we park for the event?

Eastcliff car park (pay and display) is next door to the cliffden hotel where the event is to be held and you can then access the event via the green gate in the car park :)

What if we want to visit other attractions whilst in the area. Can you tell us where my dogs will be welcome?

    2. I went along to your charity event on Saturday 23rd March 2013 was a very enjoyable day out for all the family and dogs. My Labrador had a delightful day out excited to start off with but calmed down after meeting every dog, the atmosphere was very friendly for all the family and dogs alike. No matter what size or breed had a pleasurable time in the show ring and a fun day out at the dog show, he even won 1st prize for best condition I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all who arrange the event and recommend you take your dog to the next one for a bit of fun.

    3. Hi Linda,

Thanks for your lovely comments :) We had a greyt day and I hope everyone that attended did as well. It was greyt to see so many people and dogs there despite the cold and the rain that we had all week but luckily stayed away for the duration of the event.
Well done to Monty on his rosette. Very well deserved I'm sure.

Have you seen our post about the event? http://campingandexploringwithdogs.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/the-greyt-charity-dog-meet-and-fun-dog.html

      Thanks for joining us! :)
